What began in 1961 as "The Fisherman's Outlet", a walk-up fish market, is today both an award winning landmark restaurant and the cornerstone of Harvest of the Sea. Bill's passion for the seafood business has extended well beyond the walls of his fish market. With uncompromising integrity and vision, he built the Harvest of the Sea brand through revolutionary processing innovations that continue to define industry standards.
Today, the Shinbane Family continues the legacy that Bill visioned by continuing to lead the aqua~culture industry not only with innovation but also with a goal of creating a socially responsible environment for those families who farm, harvest and process the seafood we provide to you.

Harvest of the Sea was one of the early pioneers of importing farm raised seafood from Asia almost 40 years ago. Today, many of our partner relationships are now entering their 3rd generation. Due to these close ties, our expectations from our partners to meet or exceed our quality standards are clearly understood and practiced with pride.
Our quality assurance department has help create and implement many of the global standards that commonly practiced today. All of our seafood must be fully traceable to the source, audited by our own team along with an independent 3rd party and most importantly that each package meet our rigid criteria for accuracy. We pride ourselves on our truthful disclosure of all ingredients.
With dedicated resources to drive customer conversion and penetration, our regional managers oversee a national network of specialized food brokers and our own key market area managers. Our strategy is to train and educate our customers; to offer new and innovative products, create successful incremental sale opportunities utilizing new digital and social marketing platforms.
As a member of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, Harvest of the Sea adheres to the Aqua~Culture Certification Council's "Best Practice" model in order to maintain the viability of aqua~cultured seafood.
